Introducing HR Prof - Class 0, Euro B Fire Retardant For Timber

Published: 20/09/2016

HR-ProfCLEAR FIRE RETARDANT TREATMENT FOR WOOD

HR PROF is tested to Euro Class B and UK Class O for spread of flame for use on cladding, log cabins, garages, summer houses, staircases, bathrooms, saunas, pool enclosures etc both internally and externally. Critical engineering properties i.e. strength, durability, hygroscopicity and corrosivity are not compromised.

The Treatment

HR-Prof has non-flammable properties which restrict ignition and the spread of flame. It will not wash out once dry, it is not converted into smoke when exposed to high temperatures, and carbon char is restricted to the immediate area.

Materials treated with HR-Prof, when exposed to temperatures of up to 1700°C, are subject to charcoal forming, restricting the spread of flame.

The Benefits

  • Leach-resistant

  • The treatment is leach-resistant, meaning that it can be used without a protective coating, allowing the cladding to weather naturally over time

  • No re-application

  • Reapplication of the treatment will not be required during the life of the timber

  • Non-corrosive

  • Timber treated with HR-Prof does not react with stainless steel nails

  • Colourless, odourless, non-toxic and solvent free

  • This is a water-based solution which can quickly and easily be applied on-site and will not affect the look of the timber once dry

Fire protection

Dramatically slows down fire spread and reduces heat and smoke generation, saving lives and restricting fire damage costs

Timber Suitability

With the exception of Accoya®wood and Thermally Modified Hardwood, all other Russwood timber cladding species are suitable for treatment with HR-Prof. In general, HR-Prof should not be used on any modified wood, although this is primarily due to the fact that test data on this does not exist yet, as opposed to the treatment being ineffective in these instances.

HR-Prof & Painting

It is possible to paint and fire-retardant coat a building, but it should be noted that the HR-Prof fire retardant should always be applied first. The timber can then be painted, but only with a compatible paint that does not compromise the fire retardant’s properties - please speak to us for further information about painting.

Due to the fact that HR-Prof is an on-site treatment which should be applied before the paint, it is not possible to combine this treatment with our vacuum coated cladding range.

European Standards

HR-Prof is suitable for timber substrates that require Euroclass B or C Spread of Flame (equivalent to UK Class 0) but please note that it does not meet a time-based rating.
