Fire resisting systems & fire protection construction products Passive fire protection
Correctly specifying and installing fire resisting systems and fire protection construction products (also known as passive fire protection products) is fundamental to fire safety in buildings.
These systems and products generally form part of the fabric of a building and are vital to maintain means of escape and to contain the fire in the room of origin. They limit the spread of fire from one area to another, reducing loss and increasing the safety of building occupants and fire fighters.
Therefore it is important that these products are manufactured and installed to the same quality as originally tested. The LPCB third party certification schemes for manufacturers and for installers provide assurance to specifiers and the approval authorities that the products and systems manufactured and installed will provide the fire protection required.
CE Marking and MED
In addition to its internationally recognised mark of approval, LPCB can also offer CE marking to the following Directives through BRE Global (which owns the LPCB brand).
Construction Products Directive
Marine Equipment Directive
Pressure Equipment Directive
Transportable Pressure Equipment Directive
BRE Global Ltd issues Certificates of Conformity to manufacturers for the purpose of the CE marking of their products. Combining LPCB approval with CE marking differentiates manufacturers as meeting the minimum European requirements for CE marking while demonstrating maximum commitment to ongoing quality, plus the audit visits can be arranged to cover both marks saving time and money. Unless these products also meet LPCB approval requirements, they are not eligible for Red Book listing, or to be marked as LPCB approved.
